World Seafood Congress 2026

The Embassy of India in Brasília is pleased to inform that the World Seafood Congress 2026 (WSC2026) will be held from 9 to 11 February 2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India. The Congress is being co-organized by the Department of Fisheries, Government of India, with the support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Ministry of Earth Sciences, NITI Aayog, MSME, Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), ICAR-CIBA, ICAR-CMFRI, National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), Indian Marine Ingredient Association (IMIA), and the Foundation for Aquaculture Innovations and Technology Transfer (FAITT), among other institutions. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is the Technical Partner for the event, while FAO, UNIDO, and WorldFish have extended technical cooperation.

WSC2026 aims to serve as a global platform for dialogue and collaboration across the seafood value chain. Researchers, academicians, policymakers, technicians, industry professionals, and other stakeholders are invited to submit abstracts presenting research findings, innovations, and policy perspectives that contribute to a safe, fair, and sustainable seafood ecosystem. The Congress has already received over 60 abstracts and poster presentations from experts worldwide, with participation confirmed from countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, China, India, Italy, Malawi, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Malaysia, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, and the United Kingdom, among others.

The programme will be supported by an extensive International Advisory Committee and National Advisory Committee, details of which are available on the official website. The Congress will also feature a comprehensive exhibition, with confirmed participation from leading companies in refrigeration, diagnostics, aquaculture technology, marine ingredients, processing equipment, and logistics, alongside several other international and Indian enterprises that have expressed interest in participating.

In addition, the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) will organize a Reverse Buyer–Seller Meet during WSC2026, providing structured networking and business engagement opportunities for international buyers, exporters, and other stakeholders from the global seafood industry.

It may also be noted that an MSME subsidy of up to 80% is available for eligible Micro and Small registered enterprises, facilitating wider participation by emerging companies.
