Students must apply only through the A2A Portal. All information must be correct and complete. Any incorrect or mismatched information can lead to rejection. Only one application is allowed in one academic year and multiple applications will be cancelled.
The minimum age is 18 years. The maximum age is 35 years for UG and PG courses and 40 years for PhD. The passport must be valid for at least two years as on 1 July 2026. Students must have good English language ability. Providing false information can lead to cancellation of scholarship and penalties.
Students must choose courses only from ICCR approved universities. A maximum of five choices can be selected. Once selected, the course or university cannot be changed. Admission is decided by the university and not by ICCR. Courses in medical, para-medical, law and short-term programs are not allowed. PhD applicants must submit a research proposal.
Getting admission does not guarantee a scholarship. The final decision is taken by the Indian Mission or ICCR. Selected students must accept the offer within seven days. If they do not respond in time, the scholarship will be cancelled.
Students must be medically fit and submit required certificates. They must obtain the correct student or research visa. Students must also register on the Study in India Portal. Travel expenses are usually not covered. Students should carry about USD 1500 for initial expenses.
Students must report to their university and ICCR office after arrival. They must register with FRRO within 14 days. They must submit a joining report to start receiving the scholarship. Medical insurance is compulsory. Students must open a bank account for receiving payments.
Students must attend classes regularly and perform well in studies. Poor performance or failure can lead to suspension or cancellation of the scholarship. Scholarship will continue only if the student is promoted to the next level. Students must submit progress reports regularly.
Students receive a monthly stipend along with other allowances as per rules. These benefits depend on academic performance.
Students must follow Indian laws and respect culture and institutions. They must use social media carefully. Students are not allowed to work or take part in political or unlawful activities. Any violation can lead to cancellation of scholarship and deportation.
Students can travel outside India for a limited period with permission. The maximum allowed period is 60 days in a year. Exceeding this limit may result in deduction of scholarship.
Students must arrange their own accommodation in hostel or private housing. All related expenses must be paid by the student.
Students must return to their home country after completing the course. Return airfare is provided only if included in the scholarship and after successful completion. All formalities must be completed before leaving India.
ICCR rules may change at any time. Students must inform ICCR about any changes in contact details. ICCR is not responsible for personal or family expenses.
