Accessibility Statement

The Embassy of India, Brasília is committed to making this website accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities, irrespective of device, technology or ability.

Standards

The website is designed to meet the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites and Apps (GIGW 3.0), the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) v3.0 of the Government of India.

Accessibility features

  • "Skip to Main Content" link at the top of every page.
  • Text size controls (A−, A, A+) and a high contrast mode in the top bar; your choice is remembered.
  • All menus, tabs, the photo viewer and other controls can be used with the keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Moving content (banner slideshow, live tracker, logo carousel) has a pause button and stops when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Pages have one main heading, a breadcrumb and a consistent layout; data tables have row and column headers.
  • Images have text alternatives; links to PDF files and to other websites are labelled.
  • Text in Portuguese is marked so that screen readers read it in Portuguese.
  • The layout adapts to mobile phones and tablets, and pages can be zoomed to 200% without loss of content.

How the website was checked

All pages were checked with the axe-core automated accessibility tool against WCAG 2.1 A and AA (and best practices) at desktop and mobile widths, with no violations found (October 2026). An audit and testing with screen readers are planned before certification.

Known limitations

  • Some PDF documents published in earlier years may not be fully accessible to screen readers. On request, the Embassy will provide the information in an accessible format.
  • Websites of other organisations linked from this website, and third-party services (Google Translate, Google Maps, Facebook), are not under the control of the Embassy.
  • The Hindi and Portuguese machine translations may not be accurate.
