The Embassy of India in Brasília is pleased to inform that the BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave 2026 will be held in Mumbai, India, on 11–12 August 2026. The Conclave is being convened by Mumbai First, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India.

As urbanization continues to accelerate across BRICS nations, cities have become key engines of economic growth while simultaneously facing increasingly complex challenges, including climate change, infrastructure stress, urban mobility, governance, and socio-economic inequalities. The Conclave will provide a high-level platform for policymakers, urban planners, municipal authorities, industry leaders, academics, and other stakeholders to exchange experiences, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions for building sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities.

The programme will focus on strengthening cooperation among BRICS cities through dialogue, knowledge sharing, and partnerships, with particular emphasis on climate resilience, integrated urban planning, smart infrastructure, inclusive development, digital transformation, innovative financing, and improved urban governance.

We encourage participation by relevant Brazilian government agencies, municipalities, urban development institutions, academia, research organizations, and private-sector stakeholders engaged in sustainable urban development and smart-city initiatives.
