Right to Information Manual - General Information relating to RTI Act

(i)

The particulars of its organization, functions and duties;

Embassy of India, Brasilia is headed by Ambassador. It has the following Wings:

  • Administration,
  • Consular, 
  • Economic and Commercial,
  • Information & Culture. 

This Mission deals with all aspects of bilateral and multilateral relations with Brazil and within continent. All aspects of India’s relations with Brazil, viz. political, economic and commercial, consular, information & culture and any other aspects related thereto.

(ii)

The powers and duties of its officers and employees;

Financial powers of the officers of the Mission have been detailed in the Delegated Financial Powers of the Government of India Representatives Abroad.

Powers of the Consular Officer(s) are derived from the Passport Act. This Act is already on the Mission’s web-site.

Other duties of the officers and officials of the Mission flow from the Allocation of Duties as detailed in the work allocation chart of the Mission (link)

(iii)

The procedure followed in the decision making process,
including channels of supervision and accountability;

Decisions are taken as per extant rules and guidelines, under the instruction and supervision of the Ambassador.

(iv)

The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions

Norms are set under the instruction and supervision of the Ambassador.

(v)

The rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records,
held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions;

(vi)

A statement of the categories of documents that are held by it or under its control;

  • Passport, Visa and Misc. Consular services application forms
  • Unclassified documents including Press Releases, Joint statements, declarations, Agreements and MOUs.   • Classified documents related to India's bilateral relations with Brazil.

(vii)

The particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with,
or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation
of its policy or implementation thereof;

Embassy of India functions within the norms of Indian foreign policy formulated by the Ministry of External Affairs. Policy is implemented by the Embassy under the guidelines and supervision of the Ambassador.

(viii)

A statement of the boards, councils, committees and other bodies
consisting of two or more persons constituted as its part or for the
purpose of its advice, and as to whether meetings of those boards,
councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public,
or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public;

A directory of its officers and employees;

(xii)

The manner of execution of subsidy programmes,
including the amounts allocated and the details of beneficiaries of such programmes;

Embassy of India does not follow any subsidy programme.

(xiii)

Particulars of recipients of concessions,
permits or authorizations granted by it;

Not Applicable as Mission does not grant any concessions, permit or grant.

Details in respect of the information,
available to or held by it, reduced in an electronic form;

All information of public interest has been publicized on Mission’s website. Any further specific information, if required may be obtained from the CPIO of the Mission.

The particulars of facilities available to citizens for
obtaining information, including the working hours
of a library or reading room, if maintained for public use;

Mission maintains a large library in the Chancery premises which is open for use by the public free of cost. The library contains various books on Indian culture, literature, history, geography, culinary, contemporary subjects, Commerce and trade, foreign policy and other subjects. Mission also have available a large collection of bollywood movies in DVD format for use by public on returnable basis.

Mission also provide learning material for Hindi language in electronic format, which may be provided to public free of charge.

Members of the public may visit the Embassy in person on all working days to use these facilities.
