On 9 March 2022, the India-Brazil Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting took place under the MoU for Cooperation in the field of Health and Medicine. The Indian side was led by Shri. Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India, and the Brazilian side was led by Ms. Cristina Alexandre, Special Advisor for International Health Affairs, Ministry of Health, Government of Brazil.
The two sides reviewed the ongoing collaboration and explored future opportunities in the areas of Digital Health; Health Workers' qualification, professional regulation and experience exchanges; HIV/AIDS & other STDs, viral Hepatitis, Leprosy and Tuberculosis.
The MoU was signed during the State visit of Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro to India in January 2020.
