At the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil, Shri. Jai Parkash Dalal, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Animals Husbandry & Dairying Fisheries, Government of State of Haryana, India visited Brazil from 4 to 7 July 2022 and led a delegation composed of Members of Legislative Assembly of Haryana, State Government Officials, and experts from animal husbandry and dairying sectors.
2. On 5 July 2022, Minister Shri. Dalal met Mr. Jean Marcel Fernandes, Secretary of Trade and International Relations, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil, and held very fruitful discussions. They agreed to further strengthen the mutually beneficial ties in the areas of dairy development and improvement of cattle breeds including through:
3. The two sides also agreed to cooperate on establishing a Centre of Excellence in Haryana. Minister Shri. Dalal also extended an invitation for a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil to visit Haryana to build on these discussions and explore new areas of cooperation in agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture. To keep the momentum of the visit and follow-up, they also agreed to be in touch with either side through the diplomatic missions based in Brasilia and New Delhi.
4. In Uberaba, Minister Shri. Dalal had a meeting with the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ) and visited cutting-edge cattle genomics company Alta Genetics. He welcomed their interest in enhancing cooperation for mutually beneficial partnerships in the areas of animal husbandry and allied sectors.
5. Minister Shri. Dalal also visited the Embrapa Cattle Dairy (Embrapa Gado de Leite) research center in Juiz de Fora and discussed the areas of cooperation.
