Employment Visa

1. Please ensure that you apply for the visa with the correct Consular Office, either Embassy of India, Brasilia or Consulate General of India, Sao Paulo, depending on your area of residence. The areas of jurisdiction of the Embassy and the Consulate (https://eoibrasilia.gov.in/?11805?000 External website that opens in a new window) are:

Consulate General of India, Sao PauloConsulate General of India, Sao Paulo (website: https://www.cgisaopaulo.gov.in) has consular jurisdiction over the following states of Brazil:

  • São Paulo;
  • Rio de Janeiro;
  • Paraná;
  • Santa Catarina; and
  • Rio Grande do Sul

Embassy of India, Brasilia:The Embassy of India in Brasilia has jurisdiction over all other states of Brazil, hence residents of remaining all the states of Brazil should approach Embassy of India, Brasilia for all such services.

2. All visa fees once paid are non-refundable irrespective of the outcome of the visa application and duration granted. Fee should be deposited only after ascertaining all relevant details of the visa, as applicable to the purpose of travel. 

3. The applicant is the sole responsible person for the authenticity of his/her documents provided to the Embassy for the visa.

4. The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of the Embassy.

Specific/Mandatory documents for Employment Visa:

Visa form:Fill the visa form online at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html External website that opens in a new window, take print out, sign the form and send the original form by post along with following documents:

  • photos (5cmx5cm size) – 1 photo should be pasted on the form
  • Passport - original, and a copy.
  • Original Employment contract (duly notarized in India, signature of Brazilian employee in all pages and recognized by Brazilian Notary Office).  This original contract will be retained by the Embassy.
  •  Copy of Registration Certificate/PAN/GSTN No. of employer in India and its annual turnover.
  •  In case of intra-company transfer, sponsorship letter by local company/organisation along with a copy of registration certificate.

An undertaking from the Indian employer to Consular Officer of the Embassy:

(a)  Taking full responsibility of tax compliance on behalf of the employee.

(b)  Indicating the monthly/annual salary to be paid to the employee.

(c)   Taking full responsibility to repatriate the employee, in case the need arises or before the expiration of the visa.

(d)  Giving certificate that the employer is not able to find a suitable candidate for the job within India giving sufficient reasons for the same.

Additional Requirements:Applicant may be asked to submit following additional documents depending upon the case

  • Local ID card
  • In case of foreigner, copy of Brazilian visa/residence permit. (Third country nationals (other than Brazilian nationals) may also apply for Employment Visa in Brasilia or Sao Paulo provided the period of their residence in Brazil is more than two years).
  •   Copy of earlier visa of India, if any obtained during last 5 years
  •  Copy of other passport or national ID in case of dual/multiple nationalities.
